Born on Long Island and lived in Remsenburg, NY. My family left Long Island to live in many countries in Europe when my Father’s job, (Director of Grumman International) moved our family there. Returned to Westhampton and finished HS at Westhampton Beach HS.

Attended Divers Training Academy (Harbor Branch, Florida) and later dive school in Panama City (mixed gas, surface supplied, saturation) Commercial Salvage and Repair Diver (CSRD) influenced by Jacques Cousteau…..wanted to be an explorer like him.

Worked as a commercial diver worldwide in the energy industries and contracted to USN Office of Naval Research. Worked on Deep Submergence Office projects (classified)

Joined Deep Ocean Engineering (met Sylvia Earle in NY) and joined them in California (Al Giddings RV Eagle etc.) to refurbish the USS Tanager to the RV Eagle and install a dive bell system for off ship deployment.

Worked on the design and construction of Deep Rover/Rig Rover using seawater hydraulics, audio and robotics force feedback control- developed many technologies with Graham Hawkes/Earle for deep water research. Attended the University of California, Davis & Berkeley. Received a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Joined the Space Station Support Division in support of Space Station with Grumman as Lead Robotics Engineer. Reported to NASA Administrator. Was a Flight Test engineer at the Naval Weapons Lab Worked with National Labs in technology transfer and evolving robotics technologies

Joined Oceaneering Space Systems as General Manager under contract to NASA to develop on orbit operational procedures for robotic systems and man machine interfaces. Applied lessons learned underwater to on orbit operations. Developed the Robotic Systems Integration Standards (RSIS) for NASA, that became the basis for all on orbit interfacing and satellite servicing, payload and free orbiting objects. Developed astronaut training for on orbit tools and robotic interfaces for projects including Hubble, ISS and satellite servicing systems.

Currently run my engineering firm and consult in areas related to above. For the last 5 years, served as a public servant on Southampton Town Conservation Board and Southampton Town Council with particular emphasis on environmental, energy and water quality issues.
